SELECTION AND PLACEMENT PROCESS

Friends of Youth identifies a homeless youth participating in one of their youth services in King County, and selects them to be evaluated for the possibility of matching with a Host Home. Next, they work with Andrew’s House Washington to select an appropriate family to match. Andrew’s house interviews potential host families, arranges for the youth, the family and both Case Workers meet together for a get acquainted time. A second meeting is scheduled over lunch with the youth and the potential host family with a longer opportunity for both parties to ask questions and start to develop a relationship. The third meeting is in the home of the Host Family, possibly over dinner, so the youth can see the room and bathroom facilities. If all these meetings go well, the parties sign documents at the third meeting that covers the arrangements, commitments and house rules, etc. Then the young adult moves into the Host Home.
